# What to make of the Google Cloud Container announcement

I’ve saw seen a flurry of tweets about the [Google Cloud Contain Engine announcement,](https://cloud.google.com/container-engine/) especially in reference to Docker. The Container Engine is clearly labelled “Alpha”, but apart from that label, is it Discourse-ready?

This seems to work fine. Spun up a single-node Kubernetes container, n1-highcpu-2 (2 vCPU, 1.8 GB memory), followed the steps at [discourse/docs/INSTALL-cloud.md at main · discourse/discourse · GitHub](https://github.com/discourse/discourse/blob/master/docs/INSTALL-cloud.md) starting with “Install Discourse” and the site was up and running as normal.

Compute Engine still seems significantly more expensive than DigitalOcean, though, sadly.
