# When IP addresses are logged

I am trying to understand exactly when the IPs are logged into the system. I searched through the search form, but almost all of them are old topics, so maybe something might have changed at the moment. Anyway, you can only see the IP used during registration and the IP of the last login or the history of all the IPs with which the user has logged in?
I would like to know exactly when the IPs are saved, in order to write a very precise privacy policy. Can someone help me? Thanks in advance!

It you did a [standard install](https://meta.discourse.org/t/142537?silent=true) there are also nginx logs at `/var/discourse/shared/standalone/logs/var-log/nginx`. I think they get rotated weekly.
