# Where to find Mailchimp SMTP credentials

Hi folks,
I have a mailchimp account and want to supply the smtp credentials in the app.yml.
DISCOURSE\_SMTP\_ADDRESS:
DISCOURSE\_SMTP\_PORT:
DISCOURSE\_SMTP\_USER\_NAME:
DISCOURSE\_SMTP\_PASSWORD:
But I dont know what to fill in there, can anybody help me?
I also added a new API-Key whit the label “discourse”.
But it’s not clear for me where to find the right things to fill in here…

I don’t believe that mail chimp is usable for transactional email.

You want [https://mandrillapp.com](https://mandrillapp.com) which is mailchimp’s transactional mail service. Works quite well for us but it is not free.

If you’re looking for a free or semi-free alternative, you should check out Amazon Web services SES they allow you to send up to 30,000+ SMTP emails monthly without a charge.
