Which categories are pre-seeded?

(Jay Pfaffman) #1

I’ve got a client who can’t change the security settings on a category because it’s “pre-seeded”. I see that #staff is pre-seeded, but they seem to have a staff category. And there is also an uncategorized.

I can’t figure out what he did to accomplish this.

Is it the Lounge category?

Perhaps so. I’m not sure how to tell, but I don’t see #lounge.

Prob easiest to recreate, transfer and delete that one then.

Why would it be lounge? You can change permissions on, and delete, lounge with no problem.

I got that from here.

Anyway, I’m not sure how it happened.

I’m not sure how much of an edge case this admin is to know whether bigger warnings should be in place to keep this from happening, and since I have no idea how it happened, well, I don’t know what the warnings might have been.

I deleted that topic as it is out of date, at least with regards to Lounge.

And now I’ve moved all topics to a new category, but when I try to delete it, it says that the topic count is 9105.

Should I backup and restore?

Edit: This was a hosted trial account that I moved if that matters somehow.

Edit: Aha. Category ID is 3. On a recently created site, category ID 3 is “Site Feedback.” (Unless Hosted has different default category numbers for some reason I can’t imagine.)

Well, it ain’t lounge either.

But they don’t want this category visible by TL0.

I may start a new topic now that I have this “i moved all the topics, but still can’t delete the category” issue.
