# Why default to converting PNG to JPG?

In latest version of Discourse, setting the quality of conversion to 100 doesn’t seem to have any effect. PNG images are converted into JPGs anyway. Tried multiple times, ensured settings are saved, tried logging in and out, tried images that were not tried before and so on.

No luck.

Do you know if this is happening in the browser or in the server? Can you share the image?

Out of curiosity, did you try manually uploading an image too instead of pasting? And what sizes image are you using?
