# Why don't notifications disappear after being viewed?

Hi,

If I get notification they show up in gravatar.

If I **read the messages** they still show up in the list between profile and log out.  
Am I missing sth?

It gets marked read (loses blue highlight) when you view the notification.

So if you have lots of notifications, the list will look like:

They will never disappear? Its natural that when I’ve read the list it should go away from notification.

Yes that is the intended behavior. I often use the notifications dropdown to go back to a topic that I participated in. Even on Facebook, notifications do not disappear after you read them.
