WP Discourse Link to Existing Topic not working

(Blu McCormick) #1

Hello. I am up to date on my WP Discourse plugin. I went to link my wordpress blog to an existing topic in my discourse forum but the request isn’t taking per this video:

This is my first time trying this. I tried the link that you see in the URL box at the top of the web page and also the link provided when you click on the link icon under the topic window

Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong? The plugin was working before this when I linked to a topic generated in the forum by the plugin itself.

If the plugin fails to link the topic to Discourse, it’s supposed to display an error message. Are you seeing one?

No. I am assuming that I should see the error message in the word press post editing window? If so no I didn’t as you can see in that video above.

There should be an alert message at the top of your screen. The two most likely things to go wrong are:

Ha! Yes, there is an error message.

This is the url I am using:

My wordpress site and forum are https. This is the wordpress blog I am trying to link to the forum:

It’s checking that the host part of the URL - forums.wethepeoplejournal.com matches the domain name you have supplied for the Discourse URL option on the plugin’s commenting settings tab. Is the Discourse URL that you have set there https://forums.wethepeoplejournal.com?

That WAS the problem. How I used that incorrect discourse url and didn’t have problems before is beyond me. Thanks so much.

My guess is that there’s an alternate subdomain that works for your site.

In case it’s of any interest, this is what it was before:

I am updated plugin to 1.6.5. But existing topic field does not seem.

OK. I unmarked force update, it seems now.
