# Year should be added to post date at some point

I can see why you wouldn’t think of this until [a year in](https://meta.discourse.org/t/one-year-of-discourse/12710), but now the problem is obvious. I just ran into a post from February **2013** , but looking at the date I first thought “oh, this is super recent, how did I miss it?”

The year is already on the post date. That’s what the `'13` is. Notice the apostrophe. Standard year abbreviation convention when leaving off the century.

I did not get that at all. You save so little with the '13 as opposed to the full 2013, and suddenly everyone gets it.
