# Zoho SalesIQ Mobile Black-Screen Issue

Hey all… sorry for the long message here, but I’ve tried for days to fix on my own using ask.discourse + my own Claude instance. I had my Claude pull the attached report together, including what we’ve tried, and other questions. Here is the initial context for you…

Discourse version: v2026.9.0-latest (Ember v7.2.0)
Third-party integration: Zoho SalesIQ (visitor-tracking widget, kept in “Busy” status intentionally — tracking only, no
visible chat bubble intended)
1. Objective
Install Zoho SalesIQ purely for anonymous visitor tracking (page views, live presence) — no visible chat bubble, since
the widget is deliberately kept in “Busy” status. Desktop works perfectly. Mobile browsers show a solid black screen
covering the entire page.
2. Current Symptom (unresolved)
● Desktop: fully functional, tracking works, no visual issues.
● Mobile (all browsers tested — Android Chrome, iOS): page loads, Discourse’s actual content is confirmed
present and structurally correct in the DOM underneath, but a solid black layer visually covers the entire viewport.
● Confirmed via Chrome DevTools mobile emulation (Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra profile) that Discourse’s Ember app
boots correctly — this is not a Discourse JS/bootstrap failure. Something is being painted over a fully-functional
page.

I haven’t heard about this – is this one of our plugins? Can you link me its page here on Meta? If it’s not ours (I don’t think it is), you’ll have to report this issue to the developers of that plugin.
I assume the “busy” status isn’t working as you’d hoped. Have you seen this: [https://help.zoho.com/portal/en/community/topic/how-to-disable-chat-window-in-salesiq](https://help.zoho.com/portal/en/community/topic/how-to-disable-chat-window-in-salesiq) ? That seems to describe what you want to do

This sounds like it could be easily solved with custom CSS. I can’t access your forum, but try inspecting the page and finding the black overlay, so you can set it to `display:none` maybe?

Hi @chapoi … thanks for the reply! FYI, I don’t write code, so I used a combination of Claude and the DiscourseHelper to try every fix possible, including multiple custom CSS hacks. Nothing worked. (P.S., I had Claude document everything we tried and it’s in the pdf I attached to my OP.
That being said, **I was unaware of the change in SalesIQ that you linked me to.** THAT just might do the trick. (edit: I see the article is 9yrs old) FYI, when I was grabbing a fresh copy of the script to embed (and just now as I searched for the tracking only code), I did not see that option… but I also was not looking. **I’ll dig in closer and will report back.** If you get a chance to skim the doc I attached, you’ll have a good sense for how hard I tried to fix this on my own. But.. full disclosure… I don’t even know what a DOM is. 🫠

I’ve tried everything and can’t seem to get mobile to work properly. I’ve moved the script out of the Common slot and into the Desktop app. I now have desktop tracking, but not mobile tracking.
Interestingly, I’m seeing someone from Italy hitting my admin areas and I’m the only one with admin rights. I’m assuming, based on your profile photo, that’s you hitting my network. Is that correct?
In my screenshots below, 2= my admin account, 3= my test account, 1= the unknown admin in Italy hitting my site. Big Brother is watching. 😉

Thanks. I replied. … FYI to you, @chapoi and anyone reading, I accidentally rotated my phone to horizontal and the site is visible. It is only having a problem in portrait. Hope that helps!

Zoho loads a responsive CSS rule that sets the generic `.mobile-view` class to `display: none` in portrait-sized viewports. Discourse also applies `mobile-view` to its root `` element, so the Zoho rule unintentionally hides the entire document. Rotating the device to landscape moves the viewport outside the applicable breakpoint, and the site becomes visible again.
The Zoho CSS should be limited to that widget only with:
```css
.zsiq-container .mobile-view {
display: none;
}
```
instead of the one used now
```css
.mobile-view {
display: none;
}
```
However I’ve overridden the rule on the theme component you’re using with
```css
html.mobile-view {
display: block !important;
}
```
and all is working as it should.
