A user, steven_so, is experiencing issues with importing a VBulletin 4 forum into Discourse. They are running “bundle exec rails server” and seeing continuous “MiniScheduler::Stat Create” and “MiniScheduler::Stat Update” commands. pfaffman advises that the server runs forever and suggests checking /sidekiq to confirm the import is complete.
steven_so then mentions they used a DigitalOcean’s Discourse marketplace image and followed tutorials for installing Discourse on Ubuntu and importing from VBulletin 4. They ask if they can bind port 3000 to access the development application, but pfaffman suggests backing up the development instance and restoring it to the production one.
steven_so realizes they made a mistake by having two instances on the same server, making it impossible to access the development instance via web. They ask if it’s possible to take a backup via the command line. steven_so discovers they can take a database backup using pg_dump, but is unsure if this is the correct approach.
I have been following the guide and in the last step when I run “bundle exec rails server”, there are “MiniScheduler::Stat Create …” and " MiniScheduler::Stat Update" commands running for hours. My old forum is fairly small with 6k posts.
Do this take long time to create all the MiniScheduler?
(I will try to keep all the questions related to my import in the same topic)
That’s the web server. It runs forever. Maybe check /sidekiq to see that it’s done, but it certainly is. Now you’ll need to make a backup and move it to your production server.
I made a mistake of having the development and another discourse (which was created via DO Discourse image) on the same server
As such I’m unable to access the development instance through web, is it possible to take a backup via command line (similar to restore via command line)?
