After updating to Discourse 2.4.4, dachary encountered a blank homepage with 429 errors in Firefox and Chromium. Initially, this seemed like a regression in rate limiting, similar to a previous issue. However, dachary discovered that the actual cause was a compatibility issue with the discourse-locations plugin, specifically the latest commit targeting the beta release. The error was due to a missing I18n module. dachary plans to report the bug to the plugin’s issue tracker.
The admin/upgrade page displays fine but the home page is blank. Looking at the network logs in the browser I see a 429 error which suggests there may be a regression in the handling of rate limiting, similar to what happened last month.
