The discussion revolves around linking a custom user field to an external website. jtbayly is looking to update their theme component to work with Ember 5, as the current guide is outdated. frictionel suggests using a solution from a previous post, which Firepup650 confirms is not related to Ember 5 deprecation.
jtbayly successfully tests and modifies the solution for their use-case, which involves linking an organization name to its website. They achieve this by using two profile fields and hiding the normal display of these fields using CSS. Firepup650 expresses interest in building this functionality into their component as a setting.
jtbayly shares their modified code, and Firepup650 offers an updated “organization” style link setup for feedback.
It’s not an ember 5 depreciation, but it is still a deprecation that I need to fix at some point in time. It’s not a deprecation that breaks the theme component or your site at this time.
I’ll try to remember to get a topic up about it at some point. (The TC, not the deprecation)
Well, we have two profile fields. One is an organization name and the other is a URL to that org’s website. We display the org name on the profile and link it to the org website.
I also hide the normal unlinked display of both of those fields using CSS so the data isn’t showing up twice.
