I wonder if it’s possibe to enable ‘Related (AI)’ and not ‘Suggested’ as default behavior on topic pages.
AI-generated summary
The discussion revolves around whether ‘Related (AI)’ topics should be displayed by default instead of ‘Suggested’ topics on Discourse topic pages. satonotdead initiated the request, questioning if this behavior can be enabled by default. NateDhaliwal clarified that, by default, ‘Related’ topics appear once unread/new topics are exhausted — but suggested adding a user setting to let users choose the preferred order. sam interpreted the request as allowing site admins to swap the column order, proposing an extensibility point rather than a core setting. distantnative noted that on the Central theme, ‘Related’ already appears first, prompting Moin to confirm the change wasn’t theme-specific and likely recent. However, NateDhaliwal observed that ‘Suggested’ still appears first when unread topics exist. Moin later confirmed the change was reverted, referencing pull requests discourse-ai#822 and discourse-ai#825, indicating the behavior may have been temporarily altered and then rolled back. The consensus leans toward enabling flexibility — either via user preference or admin control — rather than enforcing a global default.
Hi there!
If you look here on Meta, the default would be Related topics, when unread and new topics are finished.
But if you want Related to be first, no matter what, I would suggest perhaps a setting for users to choose if they want unread/new topics first, or Related topics.
I think the feature request here is:
Allow site admins to swap the two columns around so Related comes first.
Assume this is what you mean @satonotdead
Not sure if we will add a site setting for this, but an extensibility point that makes this easy to do sound very reasonable.
Hey @distantnative
Welcome to Meta ![]()
It’s not only when you use the central theme. I think the order was changed recently
I have Suggested as the first one, when I have unread/new topics ![]()
I see the commit I suspected of being responsible for the change has been reverted.
