The discussion is about adding a “download remote images” feature to chat, similar to the one available for forum posts. SkyeDragon and Mike_Taku suggest this feature would be beneficial, especially for sites that block hotlinked media, as it would make chat more dynamic and lively. Currently, remote images are displayed as URLs instead of images. merefield proposes a workaround by copying and pasting the image, which uploads it, but SkyeDragon notes that this may not be suitable for less technically inclined users. merefield agrees that having the behavior in sync would be good and has voted up the suggestion.
The ‘download remote images’ setting converts remote (hotlinked) images to local images by downloading them.
This works for forum posts, but chat does not yet support this feature.
This would be great to add, especially for sites that also have ‘block hotlinked media’ turned on. With both those settings enabled, it currently causes remote images to just become URLs instead of images, which is boring/unengaging to look at. Downloading remote images will help make chat more dynamic and lively.
Hi there, I hope you are doing well.
I want to ask you that, could the download remote images feature be added to chat, especially for sites that block hotlinked media?
