Hi, tried on Firefox PC and mobile, today, the quote functionality on my Discourse site doesn’t work anymore. Any idea? Thanks.

Cool. You can change it using this setting: Remove full quote Automatically remove quotation if (a) it appears at the start of a post, (b) it is of an entire post, and (c) it is from the immediately preceding post. For details, see Removal of full quotes from direct replies See also: More detail for `remove full quote` setting description

Are you referring to the quote tools when you hover or even when you manually enter the quote block in the composer?

I am selecting the text I want to quote, then I click on the quote link in the mini toolbar that appears. The quote code appears correctly in the answer, then no quote is shown when the answer is published.

Might be linked to that? [imagen] Smart quotes breaking Quote template Bug I think this is the issue, in addition to the fact we imitate user input on the textarea on this type of addition to avoid losing the undo history. I believe it can be “solved” with a spellcheck="false" on the element, but it has an obvious downside. What’s causing the issue is the inconsistent quotation, it would work if it had the same style of quotes on both ends – any of these sets can be used: It’s weird that only the second quotation mark got converted when quoting though, both sides…

Have you resolved this issue? Does quoting work here on meta? If not then you might want to try another browser - that post by Renato might be a good lead. If quoting does work here then the issue is likely a plugin or theme component on your site. Please try going to https://yoursite/safe-mode to try accessing your site without plugins or themes and see if it works there. If so, then you need to isolate the problem theme or plugin.

Might it be the thing where a quotation of the entire previous post is removed?

Yes, that is a clever thought! If you select the entire last post in your reply it will be removed. I am doing that right now. edit: in this case it’s easy to tell in the revision history what is happening. [Screenshot 2025-04-26 at 10.30.36 AM]

¿Podría ser que se elimine la cita de la publicación anterior completa?
