The user thaidb reported that new topics in certain categories were not appearing on the Docs page despite being visible in the category view, suspecting a plugin or setup issue. mcwumbly clarified that the Docs plugin requires manual indexing, but thaidb confirmed they had already added the categories in settings. hugh noted the user might be using the outdated Docs plugin, which was confirmed by thaidb. Moin identified the likely cause: the Show tags by group setting restricts visibility to topics with tags from specified groups. thaidb confirmed that adding the required tag resolved the issue, thanking Moin for the solution.
I’m currently using the Discourse Docs plugin and I’ve run into an issue where new topics posted in certain categories no longer appear in the Docs page.
For example, in this category: https ://sitet0r dot com/c/can-thue/3344
— new topics are visible just fine in the category view. But on the Docs page, it only shows older posts (before 2021).
I’m not sure if this is a bug from the plugin or an issue with my Discourse setup (self-hosted via /var/discourse).
Could you please advise if there’s a fix or a known workaround?
I’d be happy to offer a paid fee for your support or patch — this plugin is essential to our documentation system.
Do the topics appear when you disable the Show tags by group setting?
I think that setting limits the docs to only show topics which are tagged with at least one tag from a tag group you selected in docs tag groups. So topics without tags will no longer appear.
You were absolutely right — I didn’t realize that for a topic to appear in the Docs page, it must include at least one tag from the selected tag groups in the plugin settings. After adding the appropriate tag, the topic appeared instantly.
Your insight saved me a lot of time. I really appreciate your support — you clearly have deep experience with Discourse and its ecosystem.
