I don’t want to delete the category, I want to be able to close/lock it so that I can open it up again and allow posting. Is this possible?

Of course. Settings of a category: [IMG_2642] kaikki is everyone. Now it is visible, but only an admin can write.

You should mark post number 2 as the solution. Not only does it give credit to the user who helped but also lets the community know there is a working solution for this issue. Thanks
