Discourse backups not working - looking for someone who can fix it

AI-generated summary

In a Marketplace thread titled ‘Discourse backups not working - looking for someone who can fix it,’ Sukenik reports that the backup download interface disappeared suddenly this month — no buttons, no direct downloads, and email notifications for backups have also stopped. deepvyas suggests checking server folder permissions and reviewing logs before hiring help. Sukenik clarifies that the issue is interface-related, not server-side. itsbhanusharma suspects a plugin or theme incompatibility. Sukenik confirms the problem began abruptly after years of working fine. Finally, pfaffman identifies the root cause: custom CSS added to the theme accidentally hid both the backup section and theme pages. The fix likely involves editing or removing the problematic CSS.

Hello,

I have a Discourse forum where the option to download backups suddenly disappeared. The entire section where you can download the file is gone. At the same time, each time I requested to download a back up, the download link was e-mailed to me. Now this no longer happens.

If possible, I would like to fix it back to the former state.

At the same time, I would like to ask if someone would be able to automate the backups, so that a backup file is sent to my e-mail every day.

Please get back to me. I don’t know how much people normally charge for something like this.

Thank you!

Hi @Sukenik I would suggest before hiring professional could check the folder location on server have backup files.

Else can connect further to review and fix the issue.

Good Day

The Discourse interface changed. There is no issue with server as you can see, what was there is missing, the buttons are gone.

This is most likely an incompatibility with one of your plugins or (more likely) theme/theme component.

I can have a look tomorrow.

Someone had added CSS to the theme that hid the backups as well as the theme pages.
