We have a lot of badges available in our community, in many different groups / sections.
It’d be great if these group headings could be anchor links so we could link directly to a particular section of the /badges page ![]()
In a UX-focused feature request, Richie suggested making badge group headings on the /badges page anchor links to enable direct linking to specific sections. chapoi quickly implemented the change via a GitHub pull request, prompting Richie to express enthusiastic appreciation. However, Moin raised a concern about cross-language compatibility: if a user copies a link while viewing the interface in German (e.g., #vertrauensstufe), will it still work for someone viewing in English (e.g., #trust-level)? Moin confirmed that only one of the localized anchors works, indicating a potential issue. Richie acknowledged the problem and proposed using numeric IDs (e.g., #43) instead of text-based anchors to ensure consistency across languages, though he noted this might reduce readability. The feature is live but may require refinement to handle multilingual environments properly.

Does this also work with different interface languages? So if I copy the link while my interface is in German, can someone else here whose interface language is English click on it and be directed to the correct section?
The change is live now so let’s try:
https://meta.discourse.org/badges#vertrauensstufe and https://meta.discourse.org/badges#trust-level should both work, because otherwise using different interface languages makes things quite complicated. But, for me, only one of them works.
Nice catch.
This perhaps needs to link to an ID rather than a word? ![]()
I’m not sure how meaningful that would read though, eg: https://meta.discourse.org/badges#43
I don’t have an immediate solution ![]()
