TypeSafe Jev and other System One decision models

AI-generated summary

sam announces the addition of built-in support for decision models in Discourse AI. Originally developed by TypeSafe.ai and adopted by providers like CloudFlare and OpenAI, these models allow users to quickly, accurately, and cheaply classify text and images by answering arbitrary questions. This new feature offers superior cost, speed, and accuracy compared to relying on general language models.

The configuration is accessible via a new admin tab, which is currently only enabled if Discourse Workflows are active. Once a decision model is configured, it becomes available as a “Classify” node within workflows. This capability enables a wide range of automation use cases, including:

  • Automatic moderation (e.g., detecting heated discussions)
  • Notifying specific team members about particular topics
  • Automatic tagging and categorization

Users are encouraged to share interesting workflow implementations they create using this new intelligence.

I am very happy to announce we now have built-in support for decision models. :confetti_ball:

Decision models were championed and first developed by TypeSafe.ai and since then have been implemented by numerous providers including CloudFlare (clef), Open AI (decisions api) and many more.

They allow you to classify text and images by answering arbitrary questions about the inputs quickly, accurately and cheaply.

Previously we were able to lean on language models for this behavior but cost/speed and accuracy were not as good.

We added direct support into Discourse AI:

The new tab (for now) is only enabled if you have Discourse Workflows enabled (given it is the only consumer)

Once you have a decision model configured you get access to a new “Classify” model in workflows.

The new intelligence can be used for a very large amount of workflows given it allows you to classify text (and images) using your own designed classifier.

  • Automatic moderation - get notified when discussions get heated
  • Notify particular team members when particular topics are discussed
  • Automatic tagging and categorization
  • And much more

Enjoy, and please share interesting workflows you come up with.
