Digest Emails and HTTPS

AI-generated summary

The discussion revolves around ensuring digest emails use HTTPS links in Discourse. micpringle initially reported that digest emails contained HTTP links despite the site running over HTTPS. fefrei suggested enabling the use https setting, which micpringle confirmed resolved the issue. kc-hyperaxes couldn’t find the setting, prompting Falco to clarify it’s now called force_https. kc-hyperaxes revealed they were using Discourse’s hosting service, where the issue was resolved by support. hbevolve asked how to fix it for self-hosted instances, and Falco advised enabling force_https via the Rails console.

Hello!

We’ve set up Discourse to run over HTTPS, which works just fine. However, we’ve recently noticed that the digest email embeds HTTP links rather than HTTPS links. I’ve taken a look through the admin console but can’t find a setting that configures this.

Is it possible to set things up so the digest email embeds links using HTTPS instead?

Thanks,

-Mic

Did you enable the site setting use https?

I had not, but I have now. Thanks @fefrei. :]

I have looked through all the admin panels for ‘use https’ and I cannot find it. Where is this setting?

I believe it’s force_https now.

I did a search inside settings after manually searching all the panels and I do not see either ‘force_https’ or ‘use_https’.

Are you self-hosted or using a hosting service?

We are using Discourse’s Hosting service. It turns out it is handled differently and support fixed it for us.

Hi there, we have this issue and are self hosting. How do we fix it? Thanks!

You will need to go into the rails console and enable the force_https site setting on it.
