A user, Pixelfreaks-dev-27139, is experiencing an issue when trying to change their email address, receiving the error change_email.error stating that a user with this email already exists, despite this not being the case thorbenegberts. The issue initially occurred when the user first attempted to change their email, and the same error persisted when the admin, thorbenegberts, tried to change the email using their admin account, however, it worked when the admin took over the account.
Others have reported encountering similar issues, including sebastianh and Cazadividendos. Cazadividendos has had two users report this issue and initially thought it was user-specific, but now believes it may be a more general problem with the email change process. Cazadividendos has provided installation details, including running Discourse 2.4.0.beta9 on a Digital Ocean droplet with 2GB RAM and 25 GB SSD.

One of our users (Pixelfreaks-dev-27139) can’t change his email. He gets the error change_email.error, saying a user with this email already exists. However, this is not the case.
He already hat issues with changing the email address in the first place, he got the same error there. As I tried the same thing by taking over his account with my admin account, it worked. Spooky, somehow.
