Wrong icon referenced for "Tracked" notification level in Tag preferences

AI-generated summary

A user, jerry0, reported an issue with the “Tracked” notification level icon in Tag preferences, where the wrong icon (fa-circle-o) is displayed instead of the correct one (fa-circle). jomaxro provided a fix for the issue and pointed out that it’s not considered a bug, but rather a UX issue. According to the Discourse team, a bug is defined as something that prevents normal use of the platform. jomaxro explained the distinction, and jerry0 apologized for the misunderstanding and will keep this in mind for future reports.

The discourse code references the wrong icon for “Tracked” notification level in Tag preferences:

The icon shown above is the fa-circle-o one used everywhere else for “regular” notification level, and it gets greyed-out. It should be (blue) fa-circle:

Seems impossible to fix this by any means other than asking for it to be corrected in the code, hence the bug report…

It’s a bit of a stretch to call that a Contribute > Bug…

This should fix it:
https://github.com/discourse/discourse/commit/cd8d5124299793db5b8f02787fc0d0ca03dc7bdc

I will say that I agree with Régis this doesn’t qualify as a bug.

It’s tiny but would confuse users. Thank you!

For reference, we classify a bug as:

A bug report means something is broken, preventing normal/typical use of Discourse.

While an incorrect icon can certainly be confusing, it doesn’t prevent normal use of Discourse. We still want to fix Contribute > UX issues (as we did here), but we try to keep the Contribute > Bug category to things that truly break something.

OK - good to know, and apologies. I’ll do that next time.
