Ability to display all the likes/reactions on a post

I the update makes sense with reactions but as an admin of a site where there is only “likes” and no other reacts I think it makes less sense.

I got complaints about the inability to see all likes and now the new placement seems odd so I’m sure I’ll hear about that too. I might just have to theme component on top of it

I have thought about the case of forums where reactions aren’t enabled, too. In this case, I not only find the change in position odd, but I also think it’s unnecessary to include the type of reaction after the name. To me, it doesn’t provide any helpful information in that case.
I wonder if components like Change the Like Icon to 👍 now need support to replace this emoji too.

This is what it looks like on my end. The duplicated hearts are confusing - which do I click? The counter change happening on the other side of the post is also unintuitive.

Again, I understand this makes sense for when you are managing a variety of reaction types but it makes an assumption that I’m using reactions in the first place.

I whipped up a quick theme component and will probably use this going forward.

I gather you mean the reaction icons here:

…which do seem useful to me. Someone adding a bit of nuance with a reaction is more meaningful if we can see who chose what.

Yes, I mean those. Which nuances do I see on a forum where the reactions plugin is disabled so every reaction is a like?

Ah, I skimmed too quickly to catch up and missed the in this case. Apologies!

While I’m here sharing unsolicited opinions, I do think the “All” tab is redundant/unnecessary/noisy and if you removed it, you wouldn’t need that reaction type column on the right

5 posts were split to a new topic: Restoring one like button for reactions-disabled sites

Please use the thread above for discussing adding a single button back. Posts doing that on this thread are off-topic.

On my tablet, tapping the reactions on the left sometimes opens the reaction selector, but it doesn’t work. I think I would expect it not to appear at all, because there is already the button on the right.

And I have the impression this impacts where you land on a profile after using the usercard. On a short first post in a topic there is no difference; both the avatar of the poster and the avatars in the reaction list show the usercard, which takes you to the top of the profile on click. But on a post later in the topic, using the poster’s avatar still takes you to the top of the profile, but from the list of reactions, you land at the bottom.

I might be wrong but I think I have experienced this behavior before the change.

I don’t think it is related to this feature, we haven’t done anything special with user cards in this update. Maybe worth a separate bug topic.

I thought it might be caused by the fact that the modal showing the reactions list doesn’t disappear. It’s still there when I am at the profile. Maybe if it wasn’t, I would see the top as usual. I think there was a similar issue with a different modal before, but I wasn’t able to find it.

Is it expected that the list is still visible when I am no longer looking at the topic but at a user’s profile?

This is strange, I can’t repro either of these issues (scroll position) or menu still open.

Maybe it happens only on tablets?

Or touch devices?

How do I see the other reactions that were chosen?

Is that possible without manually increasing the size?

Especially on forums where you can choose any emoji, it’s likely that users chose different emojis. It’s fine that only the 3 most popular are visible without it, but I would expect the detailed view to show me all reactions.
I think I either expected an option to scroll within the emoji selector or the last item in the selector to be a collection of all other reactions that were chosen. Though then there would still be no longer a place to quickly get an overview of how often each reaction was used.

It’s possible to sidescroll in the tooltip to see more reactions, but I feel there should be a sideways scrollbar or arrows to give some indicator that that’s possible.

:bulb: Thank you. My mouse is broken and the backup I’m using doesn’t have a scroll wheel for horizontal scrolling. I really miss it. How do I scroll horizontally without a scroll wheel?
