Accented characters cause false positives in Watched Words. JammyDodger reported that Watched Words incorrectly splits words containing accented characters, treating them as separate words. This issue was replicated by nizar9, who also found that characters like ç and ş are affected. A fix has been implemented in PR #21344, which adds support for UTF-8 characters in Watched Words, correctly detecting word boundaries for all words, including those with accented characters.
When using Watched Words, accented characters can cause false positives by splitting a word on the accented character rather than treating it as part of the word. It seems that the word filter treats letters with accents and diacritics as blank spaces instead of part of the same word.
