Activate audio in autoplay video

AI-generated summary

The discussion is about activating audio in an autoplay video on a login page. PaulinaMX is using a video with the autoplay attribute, but the audio is muted and requires manual activation. Benjamin_D explains that this is due to etiquette reasons and points to the relevant code. When PaulinaMX removes the autoplay attribute, the audio is activated. However, michaeld notes that autoplay with sound is almost impossible to achieve due to modern browser policies, referencing Google’s Autoplay Policy Changes. PaulinaMX accepts this and thanks the users for their help.

Hi, I am using a video on my login page, this is the code:

<video width="100%" controls autoplay loop>
     <source src="https://forosmx.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Portada+forosmx.mp4" type="video/mp4">
    </video>

Everything works perfect but I would like the audio to be activated automatically, and not have to activate it from the controls, you can see if you like: www.forosmx.com

¡Help me, please!

I think it’s currently muted if autoplay (for etiquette reason)

Thanks, you’re right, if I remove the autoplay, the audio is activated.

Is there a way to modify that or is it something by default?

Autoplay with sound is almost undoable these days. See Autoplay policy in Chrome  |  Blog  |  Chrome for Developers for a bit more background.

Thank you very much, I just wanted to see if it was possible, but if it can’t be done, that’s fine.

Thank you, Guys.
