Hello ![]()
Currently, when the “Watched Words” feature is used to automatically link specific keywords, the resulting link looks identical to a link manually inserted by the user.
The problem
This lack of distinction can lead to confusion. Other users might assume the author of the post intentionally added the link to promote a site or provide a reference, when in fact, it was a system-level automation. In some cases, this can affect the perceived neutrality or intent of the poster.
Proposed Solution
I suggest adding a small, subtle icon next to links that were generated via the Watched Words system.
- Tooltip: Hovering over the icon could display a message like: “This link was automatically generated by the system.”
- Styling: A slight CSS difference or a specific class for these auto-links would allow admins to style them differently (e.g., a different underline or color).
Benefits
- Transparency: Users will know exactly which content was authored by the user and what was added by the system.
- Trust: It prevents authors from being wrongly accused of “spamming” or “hidden marketing” if a keyword they used was automatically linked to a commercial site by the forum’s settings.
Thanks
