Add crop feature for avatars

Can we add a crop feature to discourse so my photoshopped pikachu’s ear won’t be cut off?

Not on the current roadmaps; try cropping it in a paint program for now, then uploading the cropped version.

This won’t help you on meta but in your Discourse, you can go back to square avatars using CSS.

Almost 10 years later and this is still not implemented, which is a bit weird, because most platforms allow this.

Any plans to do it? Any plugins/components out there that allow this?
Not all users want to add this extra step of editing an image beforehand. I like to remove all the friction, as much as possible, and this is one of them for sure.

yeah this is a great idea! because discourse crops it exactly into the middle, some of my users loose details that would have been on either side, which they get anoyed about!

Centre your avatar!

I think it would be a great idea that we could centre our pfp’s to our liking, because I have seen people having uncentered pfp’s. Here’s a reference! From google! [image] Like this!

Yes, something along these lines where the crop would be fixed to a square, where we could zoom in/out and drag:

Also, even though not fully on topic, a way to drag and drop an image. There are other places where we can do that, using it for the avatar as well would be great.
