Hi everyone,

I’m new to Discourse and currently setting up my forum on a DigitalOcean VPS. I created my admin account using a ProtonMail email address, but I haven’t received the confirmation email yet. It’s been over an hour.

Could you please advise:

  • How long does it usually take to receive the confirmation email?
  • Is there something I can check or do to troubleshoot this issue?
  • Any common pitfalls for beginners setting up SMTP or email sending in Discourse?

Hi, it must be due to some SMTP settings error or usually the mail comes asap.

try running

cd /var/discourse
./discourse-doctor

provide an email address you can check to see if the mail deliverability test comes through, if all else ok.

Otherwise, Let us know what error you get?
