Hey there, I was just looking at my site and found that I cannot add GIF’s to the user card. I have tried multiple steps but nothing works right now. When a gif is uploaded, it displays as a still image. How can this be solved? Thanks, Adrian

I do not think this is supported anymore [imagem] Animated GIF avatars no longer supported by default megaphoneAnnouncements In order to simplify the Discourse codebase, support for animated GIF avatars will no longer be included in Discourse by default as of the current 2.6 beta. [image] Note that animated GIFs in posts will continue to work (of course!), we are specifically and ONLY referring to avatars here. It is possible that a future plugin may re-enable animated GIF avatar support for sites that require it, but we don’t have a timeline for this plugin at the current moment. …

I thought the same thing although in other forums it does work.

I thought user cards are not effected [imagem] Animated GIF avatars no longer supported by default megaphoneAnnouncements Still works on user cards just fine, check mine. We removed support from avatars because we have to resize those a lot, which isn’t a problem in user cards. @codinghorror s user card still works. The Problem seem to occur with new gifs https://meta.discourse.org/t/image-onebox-missing-from-small-images/183309/14?u=moin

I have looked through everything related to my question and even tried a lot of things but it just doesn’t work at all.

We stripped Gifsicle: Command-Line Animated GIFs from our base image and source This means we can no longer optimise animated gifs, I am guessing @codinghorror still works cause it was uploaded and optimised when gifsicle still existed

So this means that forums that had gifs enabled will still have it but not new ones?

Yes, from Sam’s explanation, that does seem to be the case.

As said in that same topic you can use animated webp files just fine. [imagem] Animated GIF avatars no longer supported by default megaphoneAnnouncements Circling back here, you can use an animated webp for the user card background. Just updated mine here to test.

[ezgif-6-99965f1aa9e6] I also tried GIF animation in a new forum. It worked there perfectly. I believe there might be a problem with my site

Refresh the page here and check my user card. It’s Katara powered now! [imagem] Adrian_KI: I believe there might be a problem with my site webp is recent-ish in Discourse, you will want to update to latest.
