I was just looking at my site and found that I cannot add GIF’s to the user card. I have tried multiple steps but nothing works right now. When a gif is uploaded, it displays as a still image. How can this be solved?

I thought the same thing although in other forums it does work.
I thought user cards are not effected
@codinghorror s user card still works.

I have looked through everything related to my question and even tried a lot of things but it just doesn’t work at all.
We stripped Gifsicle: Command-Line Animated GIFs from our base image and source
This means we can no longer optimise animated gifs, I am guessing @codinghorror still works cause it was uploaded and optimised when gifsicle still existed

So this means that forums that had gifs enabled will still have it but not new ones?

Yes, from Sam’s explanation, that does seem to be the case.

As said in that same topic you can use animated webp files just fine.

I also tried GIF animation in a new forum. It worked there perfectly. I believe there might be a problem with my site

webp is recent-ish in Discourse, you will want to update to latest.
