Annotate Admin Setting Changes

The discussion revolves around adding a note feature to admin settings. Richie proposes the idea, suggesting that a one-liner note explaining the reason behind a setting change would be helpful for team members to understand the context.

awesomerobot points out that hovering over the setting name reveals a history of changes, and that the admin/logs/staff_action_logs page can be used to view site setting changes. However, a note feature is currently not available, but is acknowledged as a potentially useful addition.

Richie expresses gratitude for the clarification and reiterates the desire for a note feature.

Hi everyone,

My team and I would find it really useful to be able to annotate an admin setting.

Eg. if one of us changes a value anywhere, it’d be great to be able to add a little one-liner note as to why we changed it.

if you hover over the setting name you should be able to see the history by clicking the clock icon Screen Shot 2021-10-29 at 4.04.13 PM

you can also go to admin/logs/staff_action_logs and filter by site setting changes if you’d prefer to see more information at once

we don’t have a note feature, but that could be a useful addition!
