We want to remove PMs that are over 1 or 2 years old. Is there any setting to auto-delete personal/private messages that are older than a year? Or conversations that are inactive for 1 year?

Hmm. 
I don’t think there’s anything truly automatic currently, but you may be able to utilise the Search + Bulk Actions to do a batch tidy-up?

It’s not straightforward. What do you do with a topic that’s started 5 years ago that has replies yesterday?

I’m trying to purge inactive, old conversations - something our compliance team wants us to explore.
If there are ongoing conversations, they remain unaffected. Only conversations that are inactive for over a year.
