Any way possible for non-admins granting badges

Hi,

We would like to make visible who has taken part in certain events like introductions or workshops but those are not necessarily organized by discourse admins .

At the moment badges can only be granted by admins. We don’t want to put the additional load on them getting lists of participants and assigning badges to them. Also we do not want to give Admin rights to all organizers. Is there any possibility that perhaps group owners could grant badges to group members?

Not really, but there is a hacky workaround.

  1. Create a custom badge
  2. Configure it to be awarded via group membership
  3. Put the relevant non-admin people in charge as group managers
  4. They can then add/remove users from that group, which effectively grants/removes the badge
