We’re working to revise our terms of service and wanted to know whether there is anything in the default ToS that is required from Discourse or we’re free to modify this as we see fit.
Related, if we set a ToS URL in the Legal section of Settings does that replace/redirect the default ToS page?

The provided template terms of service are just that - a template. You’re free to modify it as you see fit (and this is reiterated in the hosting terms).
Yup! The link from /about, and anyone visiting /tos directly, are changed to that URL.
If you have any specific questions about how the hosting is provided that you need answered to write the ToS, send a message to @support or support@discourse.org !
