Description in English: The topic is about the Hungarian translation of Discourse.
Sziasztok! Elkezdtem rendbe tenni Ă©s folytatni a Discourse magyar fordĂtĂĄsĂĄt.

Hi everyone!
Iâd also like to sign up as a participant
Two questions:
We need to officially decide whether the text should be informal (tegezĆdĆ) or formal (magĂĄzĂłdĂł). I would vote for informal.
Is there any way to manually update the changes so they appear on the pages?
Hi! Sorry, I havenât been on the forum in a while. Weâve been translating based on Translation HOWTO from the beginning, so we use the formal âyouâ consistently in translations. All texts reviewed so far have been done this way.
I donât know about the manual update method, I havenât tried it yet.
As further information, Iâd like to add that there are quite a few of us who translate free software, and we are currently available on the following channels: Telegram , Matrix (preferably the latter). If youâre interested, join us, and you can ask questions about specific translations there.

Hi!
Thanks for the info! Just one thing: have you ever heard of a single forum where people use formal address?
According to netiquette, everyone uses informal address with everyone else.

Hi!
We humans donât really use the formal âyouâ (magĂĄzĂłdĂĄs/önözĂ©s) anymore, but itâs common practice for computer software not to use the informal âyouâ (tegezĂ©s) with its users. In fact, whenever possible, we try to avoid direct address and phrase things more impersonally.
There were discussions about this in the community back in the day, and a few years ago, I myself argued more like you do, but years ago, a consensus emerged in the translation community that we use the formal âyouâ (önözĂ©s). We consider consistency more important overall than individual preferences. And there are practical reasons for this too; a consistent translation style better supports work done at different times and in fragments, and the translation memory is also a more useful tool this way than if we were translating ad hoc.
