The discussion revolves around the fact that pinning a post is counted as a reply. taonmatt found this behavior unexpected, as it increments the reply count without adding a visible response. ondrej explained that staff actions, including pinning, are indeed counted as replies, and offered a CSS solution to hide the action. However, taonmatt clarified that the issue is with the reply count, not the action stub itself. dsims asked if there’s a reason why these actions should count as replies, sparking a discussion on the functionality of staff actions. Firepup650 pointed out that staff actions can be edited to include text, making them similar to replies, and that this feature is often used in close messages on other forums.
Hello,
staff actions such as closing, pinning etc… are counted as replies. I think you can hide it via this CSS. This may be annoying in other UX stuff
Noticed this today on a new site. Before I look into a code change, is there any reason why someone would want or expect these actions to count as replies?
