Hey,
Is there a way to block RSS? I know its can be done with nginx. But how?
I tried to search through the search tool but I couldn’t find it.
The discussion Block RSS started with David_Ghost asking how to block RSS feeds, as another site is using an RSS reader to automatically post their content. supermathie clarified the question and asked why block RSS. David_Ghost explained that they want to prevent another site from republishing their content.
Heliosurge suggested changing category permissions, but David_Ghost said this wouldn’t work for their public forum. Heliosurge then provided a link to an article about restricting URL access in Nginx, which David_Ghost found helpful in fixing their problem. However, Jagster pointed out that this solution doesn’t address the issue of preventing indexing and scoring of stolen content. Heliosurge suggested that David_Ghost post a tutorial on their experience, as it may have other applications.

You want to block all incoming requests for RSS content from your site?
If so, I’m curious why?
Yes, that is correct.
I have another site who is using an RSS reader on my forum, so all my posts are being automatically posted on his site. I dont like it.
This topic may have some info
I am wondering if you changed category permissions

Then those categories require login to view.. though this would mean content not searchable outside forum if I understand correctly.
Yes, I saw that post. This blocks bots (and search engines) from viewing that page and that is not what I want. I just need to delete .rss pages.
Also, my forum is public, i cant apply the second solution.
Okay I think I have found a site with the info you are looking for
yes that’s perfect and fixs my problem. Thank you
Your problem is actually how to stop indexing and scoring stolen content — and that isn’t fixed.
You’re welcome. Hopefully this helps. Though if they are unaware of Discourse’s internal RSS support. They might be using a web service.
Posting a tutorial on your XP would be great! As this can have other applications if not mistaken.
