Can't get the AI plugin enabled

Hi,

Originally I did not want the AI plugin enabled so I turned it off and now I may try experiementing with it. However, I can’t get it to work and I’ve followed all the steps below from a Documentation topic.

1. Go to Admin settings→ Plugins → AI → Settings tab and make sure its enabled (discourse ai enabled)
2. Checkmark ai bot enabled to enable AI Bot
3. Checkmark ai bot add to header to enable quick access via the icon at the top right
4. We recommend picking the group of users through ai bot allowed groups to allow specific access to the AI Bot.
5. Use the ai bot enabled llms setting to select which LLMs should be available for AI bot conversations.

Somehow I turned it off too well and I don’t know how to turn it on .

However, if it turns out I don’t want the AI again, it looks like I can’t disable it? Does the tooltip mean I can’t disable the plugin in the future if I got it enabled? If so, I don’t want that I’ll test what I need on another site and keep it disabled in my site.

Yes, I will work on a fix for it being stuck in the disabled state.

I can’t disable the plugin in the future if I got it enabled

However, yes, on all free tier sites, AI plugin cannot be disabled. It is responsible for powering critical features like our spam detection.

Although the plugin itself will be always enabled, you are free to disable any other AI features by navigating to:

Admin > Plugins > AI > Features (/admin/plugins/discourse-ai/ai-features)

I turned that off spam detection as my free site is closed to like 4 people so I don’t need it so really as far as I know there is nothing critical needed on my site. Not sure why it would be critical on a free plan but not on other plans.
