Change in tooltip of 'New' tab

I’ve been look at migrating from the Jan ESR to the new/upcoming Jul ESR and have noticed a small, but potentially significant, change to the tooltip for the ‘New’ tab…

Previously it said: ‘topics created in the last few days’

It now says: ‘topics created or replied to in the last few days’

I know that there have been quite a few debates about Latest vs New vs Unread - I was just curious to know the reason for this change in the last 6 months.

In explaining the tabs we have showing for users, we’ve gone with:

  • Latest = New Topics combined with Topics with new replies
  • New = New Topics

I would value some insight into any centralised summary of the above.

/new now contains a combined list of new and unread topics.

Latest are topics with recent activity (first post created, reply created, wiki in first post edited).
New shows topics with new content you might be interested in (which topics are considered “new” is configured in the user’s preferences, and unread topics are those with new replies the user is tracking or watching).

Thanks for the clarification - I did do a search and didn’t discover that post, so thank you for the cross-link!
