Hi.
On mobile, when using the global chat search (search across all channels, not the in-channel search), the results list cannot be scrolled. Swiping up/down on the results area produces no scroll movement at all. This makes it impossible to access any result beyond what fits on the initial screen.
Expected behavior
Swiping on the chat search results list should scroll through all matching results, the same way it does on desktop or at in-channel-search.
Actual behavior
- Touch/swipe gestures on the results area do nothing — no scrolling occurs.
- Short result sets that already fit on screen without scrolling are not affected (nothing needs to scroll, so the bug isn’t visible there).
- As soon as there are enough results, or results with longer post content, that scrolling would be required to see them, the list is stuck and inaccessible beyond the initial visible portion.
- This happens consistently (100% reproducible in our testing, not intermittent).
Steps to reproduce
- On a mobile device, open discourse in mobile web or pwa and click Chat.
- Open the general chat search (search across channels, not a single-channel search).
- Enter a search term that returns several results, including at least one long/multi-result set that would require scrolling.
- Try to scroll the results list by swiping up/down with a finger.
- Observe: nothing scrolls.
Environment
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Discourse version | in the latest version but we notices the problem about 8 weeks ago. |
| Deployment | Self-hosted |
| Devices tested | iPhone (iOS, Safari) and Android (Chrome) — both affected |
| Chrome version tested | 150.0.7871.113 |
| Access method | Tested both as installed PWA (added to home screen) and in a normal mobile browser tab — both affected |
| Reproduced by | Reported by user, tested and confirmed by admin and 2 other staff members on separate iPhone and Android devices |
| Duration | Present for at least ~8 weeks, across 2 Discourse updates in that period |
| Safe Mode tested? | no, as the chat windows disappear in safe-mode |
Could anyone help with that issue?
Thanks a lot ![]()
