Checking my version, rejoining tests-passed

AI-generated summary

WaitroseCarpark is currently on the dev channel (version 3.4.0.beta3-dev) and seeks guidance on switching to the tests-passed channel. They ask if they should wait for the 3.4 stable release and then simply uncomment ‘version: tests-passed’ in app.yaml before rebuilding. merefield advises against switching to tests-passed if currently on stable, noting significant ongoing changes—especially to the Front End—and warns that switching is not easily reversible. They suggest waiting for 3.4 stable, particularly for users relying on third-party Theme Components and Plugins. Moin provides a link to a relevant guide on avoiding dev versions during updates.

Hi all

I think I’m on the dev channel:

Can I just check with someone with more experience how to join the default tests-passed channel please?

As far as I know I just wait until 3.4 is released, then just change my app.yaml from ‘#version: tests-passed’ to ‘version: tests-passed’ and rebuild, right?

If you are on stable right now I cannot recommend a move to tests-passed atm. There is a lot of change going on, particularly with the Front End so it might be worth waiting until that’s settled down and simply wait patiently for 3.4 stable, especially if you are a heavy user of third party Theme Components and Plugins.

Otherwise it’s just a case of updating the branch in app.yml and rebuilding. But that’s not something you can easily reverse.
