I’ve just been playing with the open / close events feature - which is great to have!
When you Close an event, it stops any further interaction with the RSVP. Great! It doesn’t seem to mess with the Topic itself at all - also great.
However, the closed event drops off the calendar on the /upcoming-events page - and presumably from any synchronised calendar. I’m not sure that this is desirable! Usually the event will proceed, just won’t accept any more participants.
Of note, expired events now become transparent in the calendar, which is great. Perhaps closed events could have a similar more nuanced appearance? Perhaps a lock icon?

i used to break the bbcode to get events off the /upcoming-events page, but now i use Close event
The need to break bbcode isn’t desirable, particularly given my recent calls for a primary → secondaries event hierarchy.
Therefore, if this change is implemented, could there at least be a separate Delete event button

Ah - I can see it being useful for that.
I simply hide the old events (at least on the yearly calendar) using CSS to achieve the same thing.
The thing is that events sort of do ‘Close’ functionally when they expire, so this sort of doubles that up.
Perhaps this Close event functionality should be rebranded as Hide instead (and depowered a bit?
Or do we need a seperate Hide functionality?
