I got completely fed up with their developer warnings and decided to get rid of the Facebook login feature. It was very rarely used anyway.
What puzzles me is that what else I might need to do, in addition to disabling it from the settings? The admin panel does not seem provide a report that would show which accounts have used the Facebook login method.
Just as an FYI, if youâre looking for some customer support you can message @team or email team@discourse.org and someone will be able to help you when their working week begins on Monday.
Though you may be able to find this info using a data explorer query.
Iâm hesitant about whether to enable this or not. Context: migrating a rather large community of non-tech-savvy people from Facebook. Iâm sure it would help a lot to have Facebook login but if it breaks a lot if may be worse than not having it to start with. Also, what happens if a personâs facebook account gets suspended? (Asking because that happened to me this summer â does that disable access to Discourse too?) And how easy/nightmarish is it if at some point I decide to disable Facebook login?
I stopped using Facebook login years ago. I canât find the topic about it here any more. But your forum will know the usersâ email addresses, so I think itâs just a matter of them having to click the âforgot passwordâ link to create a new one
Right, so it could still make sense to have it working to welcome the wave of Facebook users. People in our community also all have a Google login, so that might also be helpful.
If you go for enabling Facebook logins, I wish you good luck
If you want to go the easy (but less straightforward for users) way, enable Discourse ID as it is compatible with social logins (it will handle them for you).
