Content Localization - Manual and Automatic with Discourse AI

Around 1500 posts (well, lenght would be more important than amount of posts, but big majority has been relatively short) and to four languages has cost to me close to 50 USD totally so far.

But I started use that option when it was first introduced and at some point I used perhaps a little too expensive model — I’m an OpenAI customer.

One post translated to four languages costs for me perhaps two US-cents.

What are your ai_translation_backfill_max_age_days and ai_translation_backfill_limit_to_public_content set to?

Public content means topics in public categories, so private categories would not get translated.

I see. If it’s stuck at 52 then this might be related to locale detection. If you are able to, there’s a hidden site setting SiteSetting.ai_translation_verbose_logs = true that you can try to turn on. Once you’ve done that, you can check /logs and see if there are errors.

It seems to me that topic e-mail notifications are not delivered in the user’s language. Is that a feature or a bug? I can imagine both options.

Also I cannot see this particular topic in the sidebar :left_arrow: (it is not part of Site Management Index) and current topic Structuring a multilingual community should probably be updated, too.
