Use translated posts when emailing users with their user language set

It seems to me that topic e-mail notifications are not delivered in the user’s language. Is that a feature or a bug? I can imagine both options.

Edit: I received a message from our moderation team that custom remarks in the moderation pipeline are not translated either, and this is giving us an operational issue.

Sorry, that’s the ‘something else’ flag type. Here you’ll see an example of how it appears in Portuguese in the review queue, but the DM is properly translated.

Hey folks, we’ve added support for translated content in notification and activity summary emails - FEATURE: Use translated content in notification and digest emails - Pull Request #44240 - discourse/discourse - GitHub. You’ll have to update your instances.

When content localization is enabled, these emails use available translations in your selected language, respecting your automatic translation preference and the languages you understand. If a translation isn’t available or a post’s translation is out of date (we use post versions to map), we’ll use the original content.

The translated emails cover what was asked for in this topic. One related gap remains on the push side and is written up separately: Content localization: push notifications for new posts are sent before the translation is stored

In short: the push notification for a new post is queued when the post is created and looks up the translation before it has been stored (about 2 seconds later on the site measured), so it carries the original text. With #44240 the email for the same post is translated, and the two will differ.
