A feature request has been made to include “markup=markdown” in the Content-Type mail header, allowing mail clients to properly render Markdown emails. hmpffff initially suggested this change to enable their mail client, MailMate, to display Markdown emails correctly. sam agreed it was a good idea, and hmpffff inquired about the implementation timeline. After some time, hmpffff and hmpffff expressed frustration that the feature had not been implemented, emphasizing its necessity for sending Markdown emails. sam eventually provided the relevant GitHub code line and invited hmpffff to submit a pull request to implement the change.
Moin,
the mails from Discourse groups are missing the hint, that they contain Markdown. So my mail client shows me only the plain text, without rendering the as markdown. The simple solution would be to extend the content type from Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8
to Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8; markup=markdown
For testing: The mail client I use is MailMate. For Thunderbird there is an MD addon (Markdown-here). AirMail can use MD and I don’t know any others at the moment.
