Could you give us a rough estimate of how much this feature would cost? Why doesn’t the team just make this design a paid feature? It’s really cool.

Actually copying it would be an issue since this theme is not open source and that’s probably for a reason.
Building a comparable theme with the meta branded theme as a guideline would probably be in the order of magnitude of USD 2500-10000.

Discourse has stated they will not make their branded theme available to others. Exclusivity is kind of the whole point of a branded theme. If we want something that the existing official and third-party themes don’t offer, it’s up to us to build it or to spec and commission it.

As others pointed out already, the Discourse brand language is not open sourced. However, you can build similar homepage components to the ones we use on the theme with Skills for authoring themes and blocks.
