Custom tips popup when loading the forum

Hi, I use Discourse for a forum around an open source software: https://forums.scenari.org/

I have a (wiki) post that is a big list of tips: [wiki] Trucs & astuces - Forums Communauté Scenari

But it is no very ergonomic and redable as it is.

When people load the forum, I would love to be able to show a popup that randomly displays one of the tips in the post.

Is there some plugin that does that?

Is there a way to do something close to that?

There is no plugin that I know of that does this. It’s possible to do, yes, but to be quite honest, getting these prompts right for all users is tricky. Some users may find them annoying, it can disrupt their workflows, interrupt, etc.

In Discourse core, you have some other, simpler options:

  • you could pin the tips topic in a specific category or globally, so that people can more easily find it
  • you can add a link to it from the sidebar, for all users (though I see your site doesn’t have a sidebar)
  • you could post each tip, on a schedule, as a separate topic – that will also encourage discussion around each one

Hi, thanks for your suggestions.

The wiki post is already pinned in a banner in the home page. I wanted to display de info little by little.
