Back again. I’m setting up a post-signup wizard with the Custom Wizard plugin, and dropdown fields that pull their options from existing user fields only ever show the one option, not the list of options in the user fields.

Set-up (see pics below)
- One wizard, one step, five Dropdown fields
- Each field’s Content is set to:
set> user field options > [matching user field] - Prefill, Condition and Index are empty; Required is off; Validations are off
- An Update Profile action (run after wizard completion) maps each wizard field back to its user field
The five user fields are all standard Dropdown user fields with multiple options (between 4 and 19 each), set to Optional, Editable after signup and Show on signup form.
What happens
Every dropdown in the wizard shows only one option from its user field. For example, the gender field has four options (Man / Woman / Non-Binary / Prefer not to say) but the wizard dropdown shows only “Man”. Scrolling, searching (only some have the search option) and using the arrow keys don’t reveal any others.
What I’ve tried
- Hard refresh and a different browser
- Removing and re-adding the Content mapping, then saving
- Removing any empty Prefill / Condition / Index rows
- Checking the browser console: no errors when opening the dropdowns, but many deprecation warnings from discourse-custom-wizard (e.g.
.hbsextension deprecated,htmlSafedeprecated since Discourse 2026.3.0)
Also
In the Prefill mapper, the only input types offered are “text” and “wizard field” (no “user field”). Is that expected, or is it related?
Has anyone seen this, and has a fix? Or am I missing something obvious?
